I don't know why this use of them works with out motor burn out, and mine doesn't. I initally tried using the motors when i was experimenting, but they would always 'burn out' and no longer turn until the craft was reverted to launch. the craft was also using electric motors, not the helicopter engine, which is LF powered.

there seemed to be quite ab bit of moving parts collision as well. alsi the use of landing legs in a manner than they were intended to be used. Most surprising thing about that build for me, was the use of communication antennas as structural supports and body reinforcement. this might be becuase it was made for a previous version of KSP. It would have to be a fixed blade angle, depending on the speed of the motor to provide both thrust and lift. in the mean time, i will try and make a quad copter, but i am not sure its possible to use the KSP controller part to create a gyroscope effect like is used in quadcopters to maintain level flight.

I would think that the complexity of the math and CPU cycles required to replicate the true aerodynamic forces upon a helicopter in even 'simple' KSP flight would be prohibitive, but I could be mistaken.Īll said and done, the swash plate concept is fun to attempt to model but far from necessary to make a Kerbal-copter!
